One of ShillohCare’s initiatives are the medical screenings that are part of the ShillohCare Health and Wellbeing Activities. Currently, ShillohCare is able to provide medical screenings of approximately 130 widows.

Furthermore, ShillohCare strives to implement quarterly medical screenings to systematically keep track of the health of the widows. Since, these women do not have the right knowledge about specific healthcare and well-being issues, it is important to seek whether their medical situation has changed. The quarterly screening will consists of medical education through health talks and medical screening though rapid tests. These medical sessions will be divided into three parts; educating women on COVID-19 related illness, educating women on non-communicable diseases, and educating women on communicable diseases (for example, HIV). There will also be a practical session with mobility training for elderly.

Not only widows are supported, but also other female, as ShillohCare strives to create ‘safe spaces’ for girls, who have experienced physical or psychological well-being issues. These women are mainly widows, orphans and elderly people. ShillohCare wants to exert oneself to link their medical screenings to a local hospital to make an unplanned hospitalization more convenient, since the hospital has easy access to medical data.
