The Energy project focuses on providing stoves to widows and students. Most women in the village cook on three stones with some firewood, causing significant amounts of smoke which is dangerous for health. Therefore, Shillohcare provides safer systems made of bricks, sand and cement instead of stones. Gas cookers would also provide less smoke, but they are too expensive to purchase since gas is too expensive to buy regularly.

Besides providing these stoves, ShillohCare is educating women on how to safely use these systems. The first training round has already been finished, where one skilled widow explained and practice the correct usage with five other women. Now those women will reach out and spread their knowledge again. This scheme will continue until every woman in Koru knows how to cook safely, how to protect her health and one of her children.

This initiative is a pilot project, to see if information is carefully pased on to other widows. Besides that, this approach eliminates costs, leaving ShillohCare to focus on raising funds for the stoves instead of investing in a teacher. A stoves is approximately €90. At this moment, ShillohCare aims to provide 10 cookers to 10 deliberately selected homes. Therefore, the costs for this goal will be around €900.
